Bear & Fig

The Challenge:

Pronunciation can be a bear sometimes, especially when you toss in an accent or a good ole southern drawl. Baron Fig was sponsoring a few episodes of the Master of One Network podcast. During the sponsorship segment, all the Baron Fig notebooks and goodies were mentioned along with the website. What was said “head on over to baronfig.com,” what we heard was “head on over to bear & fig dot com.”

The Solution:

After lots of laughter, I set to work envisioning what Bear and Fig could be and developed a lifestyle brand for the adventure seeking family.

Accessibility has become a huge part of the digital aspect of a brand. Time and care was taken to run contrast measurements to ensure they would pass A11Y standards for the brands primary colors.

Sketches

After the little mondegreen was born, I set to the task of building an logo and began building out brand elements. Sketches were quick and dirty as they most often are, but you can see where things are heading.

What if…

The outdoors are a magical place. If you have been able to hold on to the wonder you saw as a child congrats. If you have been invited back into that wonder through the eyes of your kids, welcome back. During the development process for the logo, it became clear to me that there was another possibility for this logo to be developed into a lifestyle brand.

Adventures in the wild awaken my kids as well as myself. Could this brand be applied to apparel for adults, kids and outdoor gear? Building a marketing starts with storytelling. Invite customers into your story. Find your audience. They could be weekend explorers with little kids or big toys.

If you build it they will come.

With the gear and apparel items starting to pile up, distribution is going to be critical. But first we have to tell people we have things we believe they would love to add to their lives. Building a website that was fun and reflected the love for dad jokes and the outdoors was the next step we took in building out this brand.
